Pneumonia is more common in young children and older people. Worldwide, pneumonia accounts for one death every 20 seconds.

Pneumonia is cause by microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungal protozoa, according to the American Lung Association. Most of the pneumonia is cause by aspiration and infection by secretions from the throat.

Such infections reach the throat by inhaling tiny particles that emitted by the breathing of infected people.

Most common pneumonia are cause by bacteria or viruses. Pneumonia due to fungus and protozoa is rare.

Such pneumonia are more common in people with low immunity. Severe fever, cough, headache, vomiting and loss of appetite are the main symptoms. As the illness worsens, the patient may experience shortness of breath. Older people are more likely to have pneumonia due to decreased health and immunity.

How to prevent Pneumonia

1. Maintaining immunity and sanitation are the main objectives.

2. Provide vaccines accurately to children. Additionally, the vaccine's importance is confirmed by the presence of measles and mosquito-borne pneumonia, which are more likely to result from bacterial pneumonia.

3. Give breast milk to infants for up to six months. Thereafter, breast milk should be given along with other food till two years of age.

4. Provide nutritious and clean food. It will maintain the immune system.

5. Maintain personal hygiene and neighborhood hygiene. Avoid allergic reactions such as dust and smoke. 


What diet is good for pneumonia?

Protein-rich foods are beneficial for people with pneumonia.

Eat cold water fish such as salmon, sardines and nuts, seeds, beans, white meat.
