"Popular Tourist Beaches in Kerala"

In Kerala has a number of beautiful beaches that will attract your mind. Some of the most popular tourist beaches are Kovalam, Varkala, Marari, Chowara, Chavakkad, Nattika, Cherai, Kizhunna, Poovar etc. The Kerala is a coastal state of India.  Here are many luxury resorts and hotels where the travellers can spend their time for sunbathing, swimming or simply enjoy the amazing views of God's own country.

Kovalam is 16 km away from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. You can very easy to get there. But if you are go on holidays it is better to stay at Kovalam and visit the city. The city of Trivandrum has many attractions to see like the Napier Museum, the Sri Chitra Art Gallery and the Padmanabha swamy Temple. State goverment owned handicrafts emporium is the ideal place to buy Kerala's traditional handicrafts.

Varkala Beach

Varkala beach is also known as 'papanasham'. In Malayalam language the word 'papanasham' means put an end sins. The Lord Janardhana temple near the beach is well-known among Hindu's.

This is a cliff beach in  Varkala,TrivandruDistrict, Kerala. The Lighthouse Beach in Kovalam is a nice but crowded beach, where there is black sand. Eve's beach and ocean beach are great. But the Papanasam beach in Varkala is quieter than the beaches of Kovalam. Varkala has a long, wide coastline and a nice beach and less black sand than Kovalam.

How to Reach

About 53 km from Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), there is no direct flight to Varkala beach. The nearest airport  is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. (distance 46 km /53 km because two routes to get here by road)

Kollam KSRTC bus station, Railway station are nearest. About 35 km distance to the destination.

The cheapest way to reach Varkala from Kollam is by KSRTC bus or Tain. Very good road and rail connectivity. 

Best time to visit Varkala

Varkala has a tropical climate, with hot and humid summers, heavy rains during the rainy season, and winters being pleasant. Hence, the best season to visit Varkala is the winter season. The best time to visit this place is between October and March.

Alappuzha Beach

The spacious beach is beautiful and clean. Very nice experience and a great place to spend time and time to touch the ocean with the rising waves.

The beach is very close to the town of Alappuzha and is a great place to relax and enjoy the evening sunset. There are plenty of restaurants here for snacks and drinks. We can see the remains of the old sea bridge. The holidays are always busy with domestic visitors.

Waves are very high so not much safe for swimming beginner or kids but life guard are active so no need to worry, but remember it is very dangerous to playing in beach waves. So you must obey the instructions of life guards.

Thottada Beach

Thottada beach is one of the best beaches in Kannur, Kerala. The best time to visit is morning or evening.

Kannur is well connectivity of rail, road and air. Kannur airport for those who want to coming from abroad, so getting here very easy. However we recommends to get here by train.

The beach is about 8 km from Kannur town.
