Google Maps Included Public Toilets In India

The map includes 57,000 public schools from 2300 cities across the country. Users can find them in Google Search, Google Assistant or Google Maps.

Every month, more than 200,000 people search public toilets through Google Maps and Google Search. The Google Maps project launched in 2016 as a joint venture of the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. In the first phase, Google Maps included public toilets in Delhi, Bhopal and Indore.

Last year, Google Maps received over 32,000 responses as part of its awareness campaign.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Modi government in 2014 as a major project of the Modi government with the aim of cleaning up the streets, roads and other infrastructure facilities in the urban and rural areas of India. Anal Ghosh, senior program manager at Google Map, said the government's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program promotes cleanliness and good manners.
